Sankogan Museum of Pharmacy
Museum of Japan's oldest continuously operating pharmacy (founded 1319). Exhibits Japanese and Chinese drugs and household medicines in two buildings: "Mahoroba Hall" and "Kokoro Hall." Features a medicinal herb path and relaxation garden. Originally serving samurai clients, the pharmacy prepared and dispensed traditional herbal and medicinal formulations to warriors of the era. Its centuries-old interior, dispensing jars, and original tools offer a living glimpse into feudal‑era pharmaceutical practices. Today, Sankōgan welcomes visitors as a working heritage museum, preserving a rare continuity of Japanese medical and pharmacy history.
